O come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.           Psalm 95:1-3

Being thankful is a choice. You choose to focus on what you don’t have or don’t like or you opt to see the world through the eyes of gratitude. That choice changes your whole life. I recently saw a scientific article that even detailed a link between feeling grateful and making healthier financial decisions.

I have so much to be thankful for this year. I am thankful for gorgeous sunsets and for a heated house in the midst of a cold snap. I am thankful for computers and the delete key (I don’t miss whiteout or correction tape). I am thankful for the scent of vanilla and the taste of dark chocolate. I am thankful for roads (no matter how congested or poorly maintained) because they create the opportunity to visit with family.

I am thankful for the joy my new puppy Maddie brings even with the weariness of the 3am walk. (I will be even more grateful when her bladder grows up.) I am thankful for those I love but see no more, that I had the blessing of them in my life. I am thankful for new beginnings, old friends and my husband who has been my support for over 40 years.

I am thankful for all of you; thankful you take the time to reflect on my words. Grateful to those of you who share with me when something was particularly Spirit inspired. I have never known why God called me to ministry but I am thankful to be in ministry with you.

May your days be filled with thankfulness.
